The Modern Classic And Luxurious Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin-Oriental-New-York-Review

The Mandarin Oriental may not be an icon like The Plaza or the Pierre, but it does offer a lot of different modern luxuries. Examples of these luxuries are one of the city’s best spas, a great view of almost all of the common area, a 75-foot pool, and excellent on-site options for fine-dining. And the best thing about this hotel, it offers all of these great features while maintaining outstanding service and its traditional values.

Located on Columbus Circle, across from Central Park, and occupying the top floors of Time Warner Center Tower, The Mandarin Oriental is considered more of a modern classic hotel. This 244-room hotel tower offers its guests rooms that are adequately sized with elegant Asian décor, hi-tech electronics, great views and one of the best bathrooms in the city. The bathrooms are equipped with deep soaking tubs, even the least expensive standard rooms, and oversized showerheads.

The rooms also offer yoga mat, some books that guests can take, a large LCD TV that’s connected to a Denon media hub and surround sound media. Aside from great rooms that offer great amenities, the Mandarin Oriental also offers one of the best spas in the city, which offers full range of treatments, from manicure to massages, Asian accents and fresh orchids.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel’s 75-foot lap pool that’s located on the 36th floor and has a floor to ceiling windows. The Mandarin Oriental also has a small but luxurious fitness center that has weight training equipment, a Kinesis machine and stretching area. The fitness center is also overlooking Central Park, giving the guests a great view as they workout.

When it comes to food, guests have an array of fine-dining options within the hotel itself and in the Time Warner Center building. The Asiate is pricey but scrumptious Asian restaurant that’s located on the 35th floor, that offers not only good food but a great view of the city. The 35th floor is also where MObar is located, where hotels guests and locals frequently visit.

The Mandarin Oriental’s location also offers guests other activities as the Broadway theatre is just six blocks south while Lincoln Center is within easy walking distance. Going to different places within the city also won’t be a problem with guests as Columbus Circle is a major transit hub with half a dozen subway lines travelling through it. It’s also not that far from the JFK International Airport, the LaGuardia Airport, and the Newark Liberty International Airport, as guests will only travel 30 to 90 minutes.

One caveat wit the Mandarin Oriental though, is that the hotel’s spa is not free for the guests to use. There’s also a daily fee for the use of WiFi, so guests can’t enjoy unlimited access to the internet without paying for it. But these are just minor inconvenience compared to the positive and extravagant experience that guests can get.

So for those who are looking for a hotel that can offer a luxurious but modern experience, then the Mandarin Oriental is the place for them.
