The St. Regis Bal Harbour is one of Miami’s most luxurious beachfront hotels, highlighted by its lavish decors, generously spaced guest rooms with oceanfront balconies, three on-site dining options, a prime location across the Bal Harbour Shops, and two infinity pools. The rooms are among the most expensive in Miami and the 243-room hotel is the perfect choice for guests who are indifferent to the South Beach party scene.

The $1 billion St. Regis Bal Harbour’s luxurious and modern designs makes it fit for Hollywood Stars. In fact, the exclusive nature of this hotel brand attracts more than its fair share of the high-end crowd, as well as many anonymous celebrities. And it certainly doesn’t disappoint as guests are treated like VIPs the second after stepping through the entrance. Reserve a suite an you’ll be greeted with a glass of champagne upon arrival along with a personal butler who’ll escort you to your room.

Once inside your suite, you’ll find stylish high-tech throughout with large bathrooms and a terrace offering spectacular views of the ocean. Each room in the hotel has a digital tablet that controls everything, from lights to room service. The terrace is large enough for lounge chairs and a table and if you’re looking for a drink to enjoy out there while the sun sets, each room’s minibar has dozens of type of liquors, wines, beers. The bathrooms are equipped with standalone bathtubs and a separate alcove for the toilet. Most bathroom mirrors also have TVs embedded into them. To top it off, rooms also have a personal butler service that’s available 24-hours a day.

Once guests are settled in their rooms, they have a lot of features to choose from. Chief among them is the beach, which sits on a quiet stretch of Bal Harbour Beach. It has purple lounge chairs, umbrellas, food and drink service for the guests, and daybeds. The beach also lacks South Beach’s energy and crowds, which for some people is a plus.

For guests who don’t want to go to the beach, they can opt to enjoy the two pools that the hotel offers, The Tranquility Pool for adults and The Ocean Pool for everyone else. The Ocean Pool is closer to the beach and has an assortment of cabanas that the guests can rent. The Tranquility Pool, on the other hand, is quieter and doesn’t have cabanas, but it has a whirlpool.

For guests looking for a workout, the 24-hour spacious fitness center is the place for them. It has panoramic views of the pool and offers state-of-the-art equipment, which includes treadmills, Kinesis machine, cycles. Most cardio machines have built-in TVs with access to the Internet.

After working out, they can head to the 14,000-square-foot Remède Spa to relax. The spa offers an array of modern facilities but treatments don’t come cheap, as a 30-minute massage costs $100.

As for food, the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort offers three expensive restaurants. The J&G Grill serves Asian and French cuisine and is an upscale restaurant that people who are not even guests of the hotel can go to. The other restaurant is Atlantico, which only serves breakfast, but has indoor and outdoor seating. The third is the Fresco Beach Bar & Grill and it’s the most casual dining option but its only open for the day to serve food and snacks for guests at the pool area.

Of course, the hotel does have inconveniences that guests would have to deal with. As mentioned, its 20 minutes from the happenings at South Beach, it also only has one on-site restaurant open after dark and there aren’t many dining options within the hotel’s vicinity.

The valet parking, daily fee for pets, and poolside cabanas are expensive. So if you don’t mind spending a lot, then the St. Regis is for you, but if you’re looking for cheaper options, you could try the Fontainebleau Resort.
